Introduction to Suman Chatterjee
I am an ordinary guy from Kalna, West Bengal, India. After finishing my schooling at Kalna (India), I moved to Kolkata (India) to pursue undergraduation in Physics. Then I migrated to Mumbai (India) for PhD. I had to travel to Geneva (Switzerland) occasionally for my PhD work. After graduating in 2020, I have moved to Vienna (Austria) for post-doctoral research.
Painting was my hobby in the early days of my childhood. Later I found solace in story books of different genres, but mystery thrillers are my favorites. I also love music, especially songs with good lyrics.
In older age, I started writing small pieces of poetry and capturing moments using my Nikon-D3300 camera. I am also keen to watch good movies and plays.
Academic experiences
Schooling (Primary & Secondary)
(1998 – 2011)
I spent first five years of my schooling at Shashibala Saha Primary School (class: infant-4). Then I went to Kalna Maharaja’s High school where I completed the secondary (2009) and the higher secondary (2011) levels.
Under-graduation
(2011 – 2014)
I spent three years at Jadavpur University, Kolkata for the degree of Bachelors of Science in Physics.
Integrated PhD
(2014 – 2020)
I got a chance at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai for an integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. program. After finishing the course work in two and half years, I joined Prof. Gobinda Majumder from the Department of High Energy Physics at TIFR for my doctoral research. My PhD work was mainly in the CMS experiment at CERN. I had also carried out research in theoretical particle physics with theorists from Department of Theoretical Physics at TIFR and Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc), Bangalore. Here is my PhD thesis.
Post-doctoral research
(2020- )
After finishing Ph.D., I have joined the Institute for High Energy Physics (HEPHY), Vienna for post-doctoral research. I am right now pursuing my research in the CMS experiment at CERN.
